Oh, Causeway Bay. It’s a shopping haven for tourists and locals alike, best known for its array of high-end stores and seemingly endless dining options. Even though it’s easy to get lost in the throng or be pushed around by people trying to get to places, I’ll be honest – I love Causeway Bay. It has a vast amount of entertainment, shopping and food all in one big neighbourhood.

This guide is here to dissect all that is great about eating in the streets of Causeway Bay, starting with Lockhart Road. Surrounded by high-rise buildings, when the clock strikes 1pm, we see bobbing heads of office workers out and about getting their lunch fix. Providing an array of cuisines, from French to Japanese, there’s something for everyone on Lockhart Road.

La Crêperie

Who says crêpes are only for dessert? At La Crêperie, the La Marin galette ($152) is a crowd favourite, made with with pan-fried scallops, mixed mushrooms, lardons and a creamy white wine sauce. Want to save a few bucks? La Crêperie is now offering a voucher for merely $58 at HoKoBuy, redeemable for a two-course set lunch. If you like your lunch quick, delicious and cheap, don’t miss out on this deal.

The XXL #FuhnChallenge is on till the end of September 2018, with the bravest contestants competing against the clock to down an XXL Fûhn bowl ($218) and win a VIP card (redeemable for free pho) and cash vouchers. Fuhn and games aside, the pho at Fûhn is one of the best I’ve tried. Also, in collaboration with Eaton hotel in Jordan (which features Fûhn at its food hall), Fûhn is coming out with various vegetarian options too.

Northern Dumpling Yuan (北方餃子源)

Psstt... I have dumpling to tell you. Northern Dumpling Yuan showcases some of the biggest and freshest dumplings the 852 has to offer. The various steamed dumplings are perfect in their dough-to-filling ratio, with prices starting from $26 for five dumplings and $44 for 10 dumplings, but I’ve heard equally good things about the fried dumplings. If you need more carbs with your dumplings, the Sichuan spicy noodles ($36) come recommended, but be prepared to have some milk on the side – they do not play around with spice here.

Jiu-Wu Beef Noodles

There has been an influx of Taiwanese beef noodle spots in town lately, but who’s complaining? It’s easy for one to fall in love with this comfort food – soft and melt-in-the-mouth beef shank, sweet and savoury broth and chewy noodles, Jiu-Wu’s braised signature three in one ($95; with meat, tendon and honeycomb tripe) is what you need on a dreary Hong Kong day. To accommodate your karaoke needs, Jiu-Wu delivers to karaoke chain RedMR’s Wanchai branch, starting from 6pm. What better way to leave the hectic workday behind than with some singing, dancing and noodles?
