Gin is my other favourite bevvy other than wine, so I’m excited about the upcoming Gin Fest at John Anthony in Causeway Bay.
Gin, a juniper-based spirit with hundreds of years of history, was long considered to be old-fashioned, but it is striking back thanks to the creativity of craft distillers and the revival of gin-based cocktails. Gin bars are popping up everywhere, and Hong Kong is no exception.
John Anthony serves creative Cantonese dishes with a twist in an eco-friendly interior. But what wows me most is its bar with its huge collection of some 400 gins and 12-litre gin tubes, each containing gin that has been house-infused with a different blend of botanicals found along the Spice Routes. What better spot than here for the annual Gin Fest in Hong Kong?
If you’re a gin or cocktail lover (or just want to have fun with friends), head over to John Anthony on Saturday, 8 June 2019 (12–4pm). For $250/person, you’ll be able to try different gins from the UK, Australia, New Zealand and more for four hours. You can also get down with cocktails created by some of the hippest mixologists in town and signature John Anthony bar bites ($50 each).
