NOBU & Alain Ducasse’s Le Chocolat at The Intercontinental in Tsim Sha Tsui
Alain Ducasse’s Le Chocolat
With an expansive view of what could be titled the best skyline in the world, The Intercontinental is a treasure trove of culinary caves that will spin the Foodie right round (baby right round). Alain Ducasse’s chocolate afternoon tea (that is to die for) is being showcased in the lobby lounge and kindly offers opportunity for chocoma with a view. Begin here mid-afternoon, savouring the chestnut, rum and raisin cake, cranberry and cherry cheesecake, endive with lobster, and a chocolate mousse, inspired by Alain Ducasse’s “Benoit” Bistrot in Paris & New York, that is so rich and indulgent sugar is omitted. So not so sinful after all..? ($588 for 2 persons)
Then onwards and upwards (in the way of ascending one flight of stairs), you could book in for a sophisticated night of refined flavours at NOBU, which never disappoints. Their NYE menu is distilled to Japanese purity and it comes with it one of the best views in Hong Kong. The 9 course tasting menu consists of the likes of duck ravioli, black truffle and steamed same karei with fresh yuba and a green tea Genoise with yuzu sorbet.
Priced at $2688 pp + 10% / see their many other harbour view restaurants and specials on The Intercontinental website.

French Window Brasserie and Bar in IFC, Central
For something a bit out of the ordinary, French Window are presenting their 4-course Mangalica dinner tasting menu. If you are unsure of what this might actually be, worry not, for we too had no clue. Basically, Mangalica is a type of wooly pig that is extensively marbled and therefore tasty. It is also a Hungarian national edible treasure! Which is fun. So go on, have a Hungarian New Year’s Eve! Because, how often does that happen outside of Budapest? Oh, and diners will get one complimentary woolly Mangalica pig teddy from Monday to Thursday! Nothing says “hello 2015″ like a WOOLY MANGALICA PIG TEDDY!
