For over 100 years, Giovanni Pina has dazzled Italians with its gourmet brand of delectable cakes, pastries and gelato, and now Hong Kong aficionados can enjoy an authentic taste of Italy with the brand’s first international outposts at K11 MUSEA and Nina Mall.
The centuries-old bakery began in Trescore Balneario, Italy, and has been passed down through three generations. The award-winning third-generation chef of the family now resides in Hong Kong and is the man behind the brand’s expansion into Asia. He brings with him 10 exclusive flour recipes and the original Italian natural yeast that has made his family’s name legendary.
In addition to their flagship handmade cannoncini crema, or custard rolls, boasting more than 144 layers of buttery, flaky pastry, and the iconic Saint Honoré cake stacked with layers of cream, chocolate custard and a glaze of orange wine, the brand also features a fully fledged restaurant offering sumptuous risotto dishes, grilled steaks and more savoury items. And it’s hard to resist the house-made gelato – in particular, the intensely aromatic pistachio flavour – to cap off a meal here.
At the K11 MUSEA branch, the open-dining concept overlooking the expansive atrium makes Giovanni Pina a very photogenic spot for afternoon tea and drinks.
