In light of COVID-19, we encourage diners to take precautions when going out. You can also support your favourite restaurants by getting takeaway and delivery.

Since visiting Nissa la Bella (Nice the Beautiful) in December 2020, it has become a Sheung Wan neighbourhood favourite.

With the alcohol licence approved and more furnishings in place, it feels like a proper dining spot now. On a summer afternoon or evening, this is a great place to chill out; it’s very light and airy.

We returned to Nissa la Bella to try some new flavours on the menu, and once again, we we very satisfied with the well-executed dishes.

Tartare de thon at Nissa la Bella

Tartare de thon ($158) is always a great starter choice. Here, finely chopped raw tuna is accompanied by avocado and ponzu sauce. Typically used in Japanese cuisine, the ponzu sauce isn’t overpowering but is just tangy enough.

Fillet d’agneau ($248). My lamb loin was perfection – tender and pink, with a juicy centre. The flavourful crust transforms the dish and makes it a feast. I preferred the cauliflower garnish in comparison to the heavy mashed potato.

Tarte au citron at Nissa la Bella HK

Tarte au citron ($88). The buttery pastry shell is poured full with a deliciously tart filling, topped off with a cleansing sorbet. You can’t go wrong with a classic lemon tart, and this was a great way to finish the meal.

Verdict

They’ve hit the right notes again, and Nissa la Bella continues to be a recommended spot for simple yet delicious French Riviera-style cooking.
