Inspired by the Black Forest of Germany, Monkey 47 has landed in Hong Kong to showcase its gin with a new cocktail menu created by OZONE Bar Manager Oscar Mena and German delicacies crafted by Executive Chef Peter Find. The pop-up runs until 17 November 2019.
The cocktails ($100–170) mostly have a fresh flavour profile, using Monkey 47 gin, Monkey 47 sloe gin and barrel-cut dry gin for the G&Ts.
Max’s Rope ($170) has a boozier profile, made with Monkey 47 gin, yellow chartreuse, fresh lemon juice, agave syrup and Angostura orange bitters. This one bursts with sour lemon and ends with a slightly sweet taste of gin on the palate.
The food was exceptional – a great place to get your fix of authentic German dishes.
The Nürnberger rostbratwürstchen mit sauerkraut, or Nürnberger bratwurst with sauerkraut ($168), was delicious and comes with a freshly baked pretzel on the side.
The knusprig gebratene schweinshaxen, or roasted pork knuckle ($198), is a whole crisp yet tender pork knuckle served with sauerkraut and a large baked pretzel to share.
The knuspiger, or crispy, shrimp toast ($128) was a big crowd-pleaser – simply delicious!
