All class: From the creative team that brought us innovative drinking holes such as Quinary, comes a brand new concept named The Envoy, in commemoration of Sir Henry Pottinger’s exploration team that claimed the deep water harbour now known as Hong Kong. Located on bustling Stanley Street, in the new boutique hotel aptly named The Pottinger, The Envoy has the dual personality of being both a restaurant as well as a bar. Local mixologist Antonio Lai, has teamed up with Amanda Wan to create awe-inspiring cocktails centered around the essence of tea. Each cocktail concept is infused with Antonio’s signature multi-sensory influence to entice the palate of thirsty travellers.
The goods: Set lunches are available from Monday to Friday, with an a la carte dinner starting at 6pm. We can’t wait to sink our teeth into the Peking duck rice rolls, Iberico chop drizzled with Chinese sweet vinegar and the Yin Yang tiramisu. On the libations side, we are obsessed with the poetically named, Dewdrops of the Heart ($120), after a Charles Dickens novel, a sparkling, effervescent blend of pandan vodka, green and jasmine teas, all carbonated in a Perlini shaker. Other enticing blends include Dinosaur, Honey Me Honey Tea, and Birds of a Feather, which comes in a delicate blown-glass shaped like a little chickadee! For all the vampire-fiction fans, the True Blood (served in a First Aid tin) is a must-try!
