Tasty Treats at the Food‘s Future Summit

Don’t worry, you won’t only be eating insects

We can’t believe how fast time flies – it’s almost time for Foodie’s first-ever food conference – the Food’s Future Summit on Saturday, 12 August 2017! We’re looking forward to a full day of fascinating, insightful and meaningful conversations (just check out the amazing agenda and speakers we have lined up), but – let’s be honest – all that food for thought is going to make us hungry.

Fret not, fellow foodies! Here are some of the tasty treats your tummies will thank you for:

Caffeine and Tea-break Treats

Yup, Summit registration starts bright and early at 9am, when we’d normally still be in bed if it was any other Saturday. Coffee and tea are non-negotiables in our book, and thankfully Cedele’s coffee cart will be on hand to supply our AM and post-lunch caffeine fixes.

Cedele will also provide a range of delicious but wholesome baked treats (think mini muffins, cakes and cookies) for our mid-morning tea break. We know what you’re thinking, but don’t worry – Cedele’s baked goods are made with a base of unrefined sugar and unbleached flour (that is even milled fresh weekly), and there are no additives, improvers, artificial trans-fats or other worrying ingredients. Fun fact: Cedele may only have set up shop in Hong Kong in recent years, but it actually first opened its doors in Singapore in 1997 and has some 20 years of experience specialising in handmade, artisan baked goods – we can’t wait!

A Healthy-licious Lunch

For lunch, nood food will be on hand to serve up its healthy and delicious wraps, cold-pressed juices and raw and vegan dark chocolate bars. nood food – as you might have guessed from the name – uses quality ingredients that are prepared with minimal processing so as to retain the optimum amount of nutrients. We say this promises to be a good combination that should help us to avoid the dreaded post-lunch food coma slump (and in the worst-case scenario, there’s always coffee – see above – and a selection of interesting titbits to taste-test at our afternoon showcase).

Closing Canapés

Still with us? What better way to close a fruitful day (or, for some of you, to start your #Saturyay night) than with a wine and canapé reception where you can continue the day‘s conversations over tipples and nibbles.

Enjoy a selection of carefully crafted canapés from healthy Asian eatery Fete Up, including a delicious rendition of Singapore’s famous chilli crab in bun form and an unusual (and unexpectedly delicious) turmeric chocolate tart. We had a sneak preview of these canapés and they’re glorious – we recommend waiting right by the serving table so that you can get them in your tummy ASAP, but remember to chew slowly and savour each bite!

Happy Cow will also be with us to dish out their delicious dairy-free ice cream, made from coconut cream and organic coconut sugar, because we all love ice cream in the summer (don‘t deny it!) and can't wait to try out an alternative that‘s healthier for both us and our planet. Happy Cow‘s products are vegan, low glycemic and free of dairy, egg, soy, gluten and cholesterol and also free of artificial flavours, colourings and preservatives. ‘Nuff said.

Drooling yet? It‘s not too late to join us at the Food‘s Future Summit tomorrow, Saturday, 12 August!
