Hong Kong's restaurant scene is notoriously competitive. We saw a few legacy restaurants closing this year, causing quite a bit of public uproar, stirring up nostalgic sentiments and long lines of customers who found it hard to say good-bye. On the flip side, there are also restaurants persisting and celebrating their anniversaries with great fanfare. Hong Kong's dining scene is as diverse and interesting as ever.

Cheers everyone!!

Black Sheep Restaurants - 10 Years

With over 40 restaurants and outlets (many of which are award-winning), Black Sheep Restaurants is leading the pack when it comes to celebrations of the decade-plus club. We also look forward to new restaurants opening under this group's magic touch. A much-anticipated renovation of The Magistracy, one of the key monuments in Hong Kong, will breathe new life into the historic space through exciting new hospitality offerings. While the project will open in phases, the first phase will include two openings: Magistracy Dining Room helmed by Michelin-starred Executive Chef Matthew Kirkley, and Botanical Garden. Both are slated to open in mid-September. We absolutely cannot wait. (Address: 2 Arbuthnot Road, Central, Hong Kong; 2252-3188)

JUST IN: Black Sheep Restaurants raise funds for Pakistan

We have seen heart-wrenching pictures and videos documenting the weather-caused crisis in Pakistan. Thirty-three million people are now homeless, half of the country is underwater with cities flooded, towns annihilated, and villages evaporated. Left without electricity, drinking water and growing fears of food scarcity, the country is facing a humanitarian crisis of epic proportions.

From Monday 5 September, for seven days, Black Sheep Restaurants is recommending adding HK$8 to each check at all restaurants, and HK$1 to each check at all casual and take-away establishments. Guests can choose to opt-out or increase their donation as they wish, and Black Sheep Restaurants will match every dollar raised, in the hopes that the combined efforts can raise HK$250,000 which will go directly to those who need it most and have a significant impact on saving lives.
