BIFTECK (Joie-de-Vivre Afternoon Tea)

Celebrating its first anniversary, French-Japanese steakhouse BIFTECK has just launched its first afternoon tea set! With a decidedly savoury approach to teatime, Executive Chef Ken Kwok showcases 10 tantalising tidbits – heavy on the umami – in a beautiful wooden box. Ikura and spot shrimp Otokomae tofu panna cotta, mini Wagyu taco, mentaiko and burrata shiso tempura, Japanese red crab croquette, hojicha and foie gras macaron and chestnut Sichuan tart are amongst the highlights. Chef Kwok’s scones come in the flavour of cheese and sakura shrimp, served with truffle cream.

Cordis, Hong Kong (Fly to the Stars Champagne Afternoon Tea by Alibi x GUERLAIN)

With the festive season upon us, Cordis, Hong Kong has created a dazzling afternoon tea set at Alibi in collaboration with French beauty brand GUERLAIN, inspired by their limited-time Fly to the Stars holiday collection and, in particular, the brand’s emblematic figure – the bee – and flowers such as bergamot and rose. On the savoury side, for instance, there’s hand-dived scallop with bergamot gel and foie gras parfait with spiced orange-fig purée, while honey-yuzu-hazelnut dacquoise and lemon-vanilla-honeycomb trifle feature on the sweet side. Cova Ristorante & Caffe

Popular upscale Italian pastry shop and restaurant Cova has refreshed its afternoon tea set, served in an elegant box that resembles a treasure chest, to include the likes of brand-new bites such as A3 Wagyu toasted sandwich, Caesar salad with shrimp and foie gras mousse in mini waffle cone on the savoury side and, for the sweet-toothed, tiramisu cups, mini fruit tarts and profiteroles.

Take a trip to the City of Lights with historic Parisian patisserie DALLOYAU’s three tiers of sumptuous French delicacies. In Tseung Kwan O, District 8’s relaxing harbour views are the perfect match for this seasonal afternoon tea set in partnership with London-based brand Aromatherapy Associates. The European comfort-food-inspired bites range from savouries such as toasties filled with caramelised onion, aged Parmesan and truffle and smoked salmon tarts topped with salmon roe, guacamole and cucumber to sweets including fresh raspberry and pistachio macarons and chocolate profiteroles made with 72% chocolate and hazelnut cream. A perfect treat for the upcoming holiday season, the supremely festive Elegance Trio high tea at GREEN at Hotel ICON comes with so many delicious treats, you won’t even know where to begin! A partnership with beloved Belgian chocolatier GODIVA, the highlight has got to be the unlimited GODIVA soft serve, but there’s so much more in store. This three-course tea set crafted expertly by Executive Chef Danny Ho and team is more like dinner than traditional afternoon tea, arriving in three indulgent courses: oyster chowder with deep-fried oyster to start, a choice of main (our pick goes to the grass-fed beef tenderloin with truffle mash and French beans), ending with a stunning rotating three-tier vinyl turntable stacked with all sorts of decadent GODIVA chocolate goodies.

Hotel ICON (All About Durian Southeast Asian Afternoon Tea by The Market)

If you’re a durian fan, take note. Get your fill of this pungent Southeast Asian fruit by partaking in The Market’s afternoon tea set that includes the likes of double-boiled coconut durian soup, durian pandan glutinous rice and unlimited serves of ice cream made with D197 Musang King and D24 durian. These durian delights are complemented by SE Asian savouries such as Thai fish cake with crabmeat and salmon roe, charcoal-grilled Malaysian otak-otak and fried soft-shell prawn with oatmeal.

For afternoon tea with a local twist, House of Orient offers two experiences featuring traditional Cantonese bites matched with premium teas. The Classic Flavours set showcases beloved nostalgic sweets – white peony pastry filled with lotus-seed paste, red bean pudding, walnut pastry – alongside the eatery’s more modern sweet creations. HUE x Aromatherapy Associates Afternoon Tea

Modern Australian restaurant HUE is making the most of its soothing harbour views to team up with London-based brand Aromatherapy Associates for the launch of this limited-time afternoon tea set focused on destressing through modern Aussie cuisine culture. Sweets and savouries take the form of crispy bacon croquette with yuzu mayo, crab beignet with bell pepper, pickled cucumber, tomato and fresh wasabi, dark chocolate profiterole with orange gel, lamington truffle with single-origin chocolate ganache and shredded coconut, mini rice pudding garnished with soft curd made with mixed cherries and berries and lots more.

At JW Marriott, The Lounge is collaborating with French botanical skincare brand Chantecaille in honour of the company’s latest philanthropic cosmetics collection that supports the conservation of black jaguars
cougars. The afternoon tea sweets are themed with these incredible big cats in mind. For example, there are adorable black sesame madeleines shaped like cat’s paws and grapefruit fromage blanc cake decorated with jaguars and cougars. Moxie

Chef Michael Smith of healthy, eco-conscious all-day diner Moxie has launched a laid-back daily afternoon tea set showcasing three savoury bites and three sweets, with seasonal ingredients at the forefront of each dish. The debut set this autumn features cheese and onion tart with pumpkin-seed soleslaw, panisse with fig, endive and celery and sesame (sustainably sourced) prawn toast with sweet chilli dressing. Sweets include a choice of two cakes or pastries from Moxie’s freshly baked daily selection, plus the classic teatime treat of scones with jam – this time, it’s Earl Grey scones with apricot jam. Vegan and gluten-free options are available upon request.

The Murray, Hong Kong (Birds of a Feather Afternoon Tea by Popinjays)

Stylish rooftop restaurant Popinjays at The Murray is paying tribute to all birds of a feather with this colourful and plentiful buffet-style afternoon tea by Chef de Cuisine Lexine Hepworth. On the savoury side, the morsels include saffron shrimp, pâté en croûte, roast beef sandwich, smoked salmon on toasted rye, curried yoghurt chicken with crispy rice, Waldorf salad, gazpacho and quiche of the day. White chocolate and salted caramel cream cake, green tea chocolate terrine and lemon curd tart are amongst the luscious cakes on offer.

The Optimist (Spanish Afternoon Tea)

One of the most popular Spanish restaurants in town, The Optimist has launched its first afternoon tea set. This three-tiered tower created by Chef Victor Caballé contains some of our favourite sweet and savoury Spanish goodies such as pan con tomate with Ibérico ham, truffle and Ibérico ham croquettes, churros with chocolate sauce, crema catalana tartlets and Basque cheesecake. This is one of the only tea sets we’ve seen in Hong Kong offering more savoury than sweet bites for the afternoon. Refillable tea, coffee and juice come with the set or you can can opt for a tea-infused cocktail. We loved the clean-tasting camomile G&T sprayed with jasmine essence and the fun signature bubble teas in either matcha, rose or coffee flavour. If you want to go luxurious, a glass of Perrier-Jouët champagne can also be added on, and you can throw in six freshly shucked oysters too.

The Pottinger Hong Kong (HUSO)

Newly opened French-Med restaurant HUSO at The Pottinger Hong Kong has launched an afternoon tea set that features 11 bite-sized treats alongside tea or coffee. On the savoury side, there’s gazpacho, salmon rillettes and hand-cut steak tartare, for example. Sweet offerings include macarons, mini cheesecake, chocolate slice and creamy tiramisu.

True to its form of vibrant colours and whimsy, SEVVA’s My Favourite Things Afternoon Tea offers healthy nibbles of vegetable crudités balanced with sweet and savoury indulgences. This new afternoon tea features a variety of SEVVA classics such as netted vegetarian spring rolls, chicken rolled sandwiches, truffle angel-hair pasta with caviar and Wagyu sliders. Sheraton Hong Kong Tung Chung Hotel (Venchi Chocolate Paradise Afternoon Tea)

Offered at the Lobby Lounge of Sheraton Hong Kong Tung Chung Hotel, the Venchi Chocolate Paradise Afternoon Tea has an Italian twist, incorporating Venchi’s famed ingredients such as chocolate, Piedmont hazelnuts and pistachios from Bronte. The offerings include desserts made with matcha and pistachio mousse, orange panna cotta with Aperol spritz jelly, candied orange and 75% Venchi chocolate, as well as a tiramisu made with rich mascarpone and a slab of 60% Venchi chocolate. Savoury bites includes panzanella salad, burrata with roast mission fig, pistachio and mint and seared tuna with basil salsa and Piedmont hazelnut.

The St. Regis Hong Kong (The Drawing Room x The Macallan Afternoon Tea)

Tea and tipples is what’s in store at elegant The Drawing Room at The St. Regis with this indulgent collab with legendary single-malt Scotch whisky The Macallan. The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old has been incorporated into several of the set’s sweet and savoury bites – for example, it’s used in the marinade for the foie gras terrine and in the ganache for the whisky chocolate cake. The set also includes one cocktail – La Vie on Rose – mixed with The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years.

The Upper House (Salisterra x Ān Soy Afternoon Tea)

Executive Chef Cary Docherty and the Salisterra team at The Upper House have joined forces with Ān, an artisanal soy-based gourmet and lifestyle brand founded by Chef Vicky Lau. This one-of-a-kind afternoon tea featuring made-in-HK soy delicacies from Ān turns the spotlight on home-grown flavours and gives the humble soybean a gourmet makeover. The set includes a glass of Ān’s Nature Soy Milk or Black Sesame Soy Milk, along with delightful bites such as belly bao BLTs, 10-spice curried beef brisket puffs, scones with Salisterra’s subtly numbing Sichuan raspberry jam, mango and pomelo delights, milk tea custard bombolini and a “Bellini Surprise” peach soup infused with a secret ingredient that will tickle the taste buds.
