LPM’s New Dishes Are Worth the Splurge

The French-Med restaurant’s first big menu update since 2018

Back in the early days of COVID, we chose LPM Restaurant & Bar (the French-Med restaurant formerly known as La Petite Maison) as our Foodie Forks 2020 Editors’ Choice Best Restaurant for its effortless ability to remain elevated, playful and sophisticated all at the same time.

Over two years later, LPM is still packed out most days, and as a thank you to customers for their loyalty throughout these trying pandemic times, Chef Maurizio Pace has introduced nine dishes to a new “specials” menu alongside the restaurant’s longstanding à-la-carte signatures – the first major menu update in nearly half a decade.

Here’s a sneak peak at some of these stunning newcomers:

Foie gras terrine (HK$268): smeared liberally atop the toasted brioche, we couldn't get enough of this creamy, utterly luxurious dish. This beautifully presented terrine is topped with petals of thinly sliced grape that bring out the hint of French brandy in the foie gras.

Sea bream tartare (HK$298): this tartare is a great way to balance the richness of the foie gras – a lovely mix of tastes and textures including cucumber, red onion, jalapeño, purple shiso and daikon cress, complemented by a punchy dressing dominated by the heady flavour of passionfruit.

King crab risotto (HK$388): amongst the most indulgent yet comforting dishes we’ve tried recently, the natural sweetness of the king crab is enhanced by pops of salty caviar.

Pan-roasted monkfish (HK$398): this meaty fish stands up well against the intense shellfish stock and jewels of dried tomato.

Grilled French pork chop (HK$688): this mighty hunk of meat is a must-order – well marbled and oh so tender – and we love the rustic addition of hearty cavolo nero (black kale).

Fig tart (HK$128): a seasonal treat, figs stand in for apples in this delicate tarte Tatin-esque dessert.

Verdict

LPM remains a reliable favourite when we’re looking for consistently well-executed, lighter French fare in an elegant but laid-back and buzzy setting. This menu overhaul adds even more pizazz to the restaurant’s repertoire, and though the prices are definitely on the high side, we think they’re worth the splurge.

Bonus

LPM is currently also offering its famed Italian white truffle dishes (HK$1,188 each) including its house-made pasta dishes – rigatoni, linguine and gnocchi – crowned with freshly shaved white truffle, white truffle with burrata and scrambled egg with white truffle. Simply divine!
