Now in its ninth year, Riesling Weeks Hong Kong, the annual month-long celebration of German wine in June, is greeting wine lovers with a livelier and more modern logo and website.

Riesling Weeks aims to introduce German wine to Hong Kong connoisseurs through its supporting partners. Leading hotels and restaurants will be offering German wine and food pairings, while retailers and wine clubs will host wine-tasting events.

An advocate of white asparagus, a German delicacy grown between mid-April and the end of June, Conrad Hong Kong will again be hosting a white asparagus x German wine dinner at Brasserie on the Eighth on Friday, 4 June. This six-course menu includes creative white asparagus ice cream paired with Riesling Auslese semi-sweet wine from Mosel.

At the hotel’s award-winning Cantonese restaurant Golden Leaf, Chef Tony Wan will create three mouth-watering white asparagus dishes to pair with exquisite German wine. Book your seat early to avoid disappointment.

At Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel, another award-winning Cantonese restaurant, Dynasty, will present a Riesling Weeks menu to go with three different Rieslings. Alternatively, you can enjoy poached white asparagus in Riesling with serrano ham, grilled salmon or USDA Black Angus striploin accompanied by fine German wine at Mirage Bar & Restaurant.

Other highlights include The Fine Wine Experience’s Riesling lunch and Zoom discussion with renowned German winemakers and new-vintage Riesling tasting at its flagship store. Bâtard, located inside this 7,000-square-foot wine shop, will be offering a Riesling trio tasting set to diners.

With the pandemic not quite yet over, most wine lovers are enjoying wine in the comfort of their own homes. There are over 50 wine retailers and online shops offering various promotions, from in-store tastings to special German wine packs and discounts, including at recently opened Bottle Wander on Hollywood Road. Check out their promotional offers here.

And if you’re a home chef, remember to check out these delicious Asian recipes that go hand in hand with German wine.

Noting that Hong Kong wine lovers are not yet able to travel freely, Riesling Weeks is bringing the first-ever German wine pop-up store – Vinothek Berlin – to Fashion Walk in Causeway Bay. Decorated with cool Berlin Wall graffiti, the shop will feature a wide selection of German wine, delicacies and lifestyle products. Come experience wine, art and fashion in the heart of Causeway Bay between 18–27 June.

We will share more information on Vinothek Berlin by Riesling Weeks in the next article. Stay tuned!
