Booking a table for two to enjoy a spot of afternoon tea remains one of our favourite indulgent dine-out options, so it’s time to treat ourselves. Even though restrictions have eased, the F&B industry still needs all the help it can get.
Crowne Plaza Causeway Bay (Club@28)
From 6 May and extending until 31 August, rooftop bar and restaurant Club@28 at Crowne Plaza Causeway Bay is teaming up with French organic beauty brand Melvita for the rose-themed Season of Bloom ($239 for 1 or $478 for 2 on weekdays; $249 for 1 or $498 for 2 on weekends and public holidays). Red and pink rose chocolates, panna cotta topped with strawberry jelly, macarons in rose caramel and strawberry flavour and smoked salmon with sour cream on wheat bread are just a few of the rosy-hued sweets and savouries diners can look forward to. Also included is a special rose lychee mojito and French honey rose tea for sipping. An exclusive Melvita organic travel kit will be gifted with each set, containing three of the brand’s top-rated products.

DK Cuppa Tea
This charming Sheung Wan tearoom offers a range of delightful afternoon tea options for dine-in and takeaway, and the latest set (dine-in only) is called The Blessing Tale ($298/person with 2-person minimum). Highlights of this pastel-coloured, rainbow-themed set include eye-catching mini sprinkle doughnuts, rainbow macarons and Tiffany blue scones with rose jam. Dreamy! DK Cuppa Tea is an offshoot of home-grown brand DK Aromatherapy.

Eaton HK (The Astor)
Eaton HK’s all-day buffet restaurant is paying tribute to the flavours of Thailand with its new afternoon tea offerings. On weekdays from 4 April, the mini Thai afternoon tea set ($128 for 1 or $248 for 2) features 12 Thai fusion dishes, from crab cake with mango salsa and green curry chicken sandwich to Thai milk tea roll cake and lemongrass panna cotta. One bevvy is included with the set (butterfly pea and yuzu tea, mango-basil smoothie, iced hibiscus tea or lemongrass-lime soda).
On weekends and public holidays from 2 April, it’s all change with the the Tea-licious afternoon tea buffet ($258/person), a slap-up smorgasbord of all-you-can-eat tea-infused desserts such as hibiscus tea cheesecake, butterfly pea mousse cake and warm Earl Grey pear pudding. Both Asian and Western savoury stations will also be set up, where you can serve yourself dishes like ginger and soy chicken with peach tea glaze and oden with ginseng tea.

Luxury British brand Fortnum & Mason is pulling out all the stops to celebrate both its own astounding 315th anniversary and Queen Elizabeth II’s 70 years on the throne. The Platinum Jubilee afternoon tea ($588/person) at in-house restaurant 181, on the menu from 10 May–30 June, has been curated to feature indulgent treats that honour these momentous occasions. Highlights include the new Platinum Jubilee tea blend, champagne tart, brandy snaps with Platinum Jubilee rose and berries preserve and The Swan – a swan-shaped puff pastry symbolising the Queen’s famous claim over every ownerless swan swimming in Wales and England’s open waters. Hotel ICON (GREEN)
Available at Hotel ICON’s lobby all-day-dining restaurant from Monday, 20 June is the hearty three-course Fruitealicious high tea ($398 for 1 or $688 for 2). More like an early dinner than an afternoon pick-me-up, the menu begins with lobster-mango salad and lobster bisque, before moving on to a choice of main (roasted Argentinian grass-fed tenderloin, roasted barramundi with blue mussels or pan-fried French duck breast) and a final dessert course featuring a three-tiered stand of fruit-shaped sweet treats. Takeaway tea ($668 for 2) can be ordered online.

Hotel ICON (The Market)
Another fruit-centric option at HOTEL ICON this summer is the All about Durian Southeast Asian afternoon tea ($408 for 1 or $788 for 2) upstairs at The Market, available from 27 June. The star of this show is the all-you-can-eat D197 Musang King and D24 durian ice cream, while the bottom tier of the set features three types of freshly imported durian from Malaysia (D197 Musang King, D175 Red Prawn and D101). The savoury bites have a distinct SE Asian slant, from the Thai fish cakes with crabmeat and salmon roe to the fried soft-shelled prawns with oatmeal, a Singaporean classic. Double-boiled coconut-durian soup, durian-pandan glutinous rice and durian, coconut, butterfly pea flower and sago shooters are also on the menu. Takeaway tea ($648 for 2) can be ordered online.

HUE
Head to Aussie restaurant HUE on weekends and public holidays for their updated afternoon tea with a view ($680 for 2). The sweets and savouries that come with the set are seriously creative and globally inspired, as many dishes from Oz seem to be, and might include the likes of salmon caviar with radicchio blinis, beef tartare with pickled pair and vanilla mustard, pistachio-mango lamingtons and, of course, Ray’s famous scones, served with lashings of vanilla cream and orange-thyme marmalade. An interesting selection of tea and coffee is part of the deal – take your pick from Chinese, fruit and herbal teas, flat whites, macchiatos and more.

Kerry Hotel (Lobby Lounge)
Kerry Hotel has collaborated with Korea’s first natural-fermentation skincare brand, su:m37°, to offer the Graceful Lumière afternoon tea ($638 for 2 on weekdays or $668 for 2 on weekends and public holidays) from 2 May–30 June. The savoury bites crafted by Executive Chef Michael Clinton are prepared using fermented Korean ingredients such as kimchi and black garlic. On the sweet side, Executive Pastry Chef Jerome Husson has added a refreshing touch to the set with goodies including Greek yoghurt cheesecake and citrusy scones flavoured with candied lemon and yuzu. Two su:m37° deluxe gift sets ($528 value) are offered with each set, while supplies last.

Kowloon Shangri-La (Lobby Lounge)
The latest collab at Kowloon Shangri-La is with Australian beauty and aromatherapy brand CANVAS, taking inspiration from CANVAS’ Rose Otto series. Every Rosy Wonderland afternoon tea set ($658 for 2) comes with two CANVAS Rose Otto all-day hydrating sets ($400 value), while stocks last. Presented in the hotel’s signature golden birdcage in rosy shades of pink, the set features eight sweets and savouries, as well as rose-petal and raisin scones and a deluxe fruit platter to really gild the lily (or rose, as the case may be). Le Méridien Cyberport (Southside Bistro)
It’s been all change at Le Méridien Cyberport for the past several months, with the hotel undergoing a full refurbishment programme. This includes its F&B offerings, and at Southside Bistro, the hotel’s chic new all-day-eatery, there’s a teatime collab with premium French haircare brand Leonor Greyl. From 28 May–31 July, the Scents of Summer afternoon tea ($568 for 2), featuring bite-sized sweets and savouries crafted with natural ingredients such as honey, quinoa, coconut and rose, includes two Leonor Greyl trial kits ($224 value) for at-home pampering.

Modern Med restaurant Quiéro Mas has a fun Tapas, Tea & Tipples! afternoon tea ($338 for 2) on now that includes four savoury tapas (36 months Ibérico ham, lobster brioche, truffle and cheese bikini, Impossible slider), burnt Basque cheesecake with mixed berry compote and pistachio gelato, plus coffee and tea (or add $30 for a glass of sangria).

Sheraton Tung Chung’s jam-inspired Jade’s Palette afternoon tea ($328 for 2) welcomes the fruits of summer with treats such as mini doughnuts with rose jam, Bakewell tart with raspberry jam, homemade Jaffa Cakes with four-citrus marmalade and citrus posset, all crafted with locally made jams by Jade’s Palette. W Hong Kong’s Fizzical Wonders afternoon tea ($618 for 2 on weekdays or $798 for 2 on weekends and public holidays) includes two The London Essence Co. white peach and jasmine sodas, plus chilled bottled pre-mixed drinks if you’re dining at the weekend. Fruity, summery sweets and savouries complement the fizzy bevvies, from smoked salmon with lime cream cheese and salmon roe on rye bread and peach flan tartlet with ham crisp to passion-fruit fluff cake and lollies made of white peach and chocolate.
