Here are our top ideas for spoiling the special man in your life this Father’s Day (Sunday, 19 June):
GRAIN: Bottomless family roast
The whole family can get stuck into the comfort-food eats at K-Town gastropub GRAIN, and even better for Dad, two-hour free-flow bubbles and craft beer ($230/person) is a great add-on. The roast menu ($360/person), on from 12–5pm on Sunday the 19th, features all-you-can-eat starters, sides and house-made desserts, plus a roast dish main to share between two. The roasts are undoubtedly the stars of this show, with drool-worthy options of slow-roasted Lumina lamb shoulder with stout molasses glaze or roasted Rangers Valley M5 Wagyu tri-tip with stout beer-braised ox cheek and aubergine fritters.

Four Seasons: Raise a Toast to Dad staycation
There are several fancy-pants staycay options for Father’s Day, but the Raise a Toast staycation (from $3,500/night) at Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong is our pick of the lot. A chocolate cake infused with The Macallan Double Cask 12 years, waiting in-room for Dad, sets the tone for this whisky-themed staycay, continuing on with a virtual cocktail-making activity complete with a The Macallan cocktail tool kit and traditional quaich (drinking cup) to take home later. Daily breakfast for two, a The Macallan welcome gift and an invitation to The Macallan Room for a whisky-tasting experience are part of this sweet made-for-dads overnight deal. Available 10–19 June.

Morton’s: Surf-and-turf lunch
Those looking for the best of both worlds might want to look into booking Morton’s Steak & Seafood special ($888/person) for Father’s Day lunch. The three-course surf-and-turf feast includes a choice of starter (perhaps lobster bisque or jumbo shrimp cocktail), a six-ounce filet steak topped up with either a baked lobster tail, crab cake or bacon-wrapped scallops, a signature side (we’re addicted to the Parmesan and truffle matchstick fries) and an indulgent dessert such as key lime pie or Morton’s legendary hot chocolate cake.

Ms B’s CAKERY: DADDY COOLEST collection
If you really want to treat your sweet-toothed father, consider ordering a cake from Ms B’s DADDY COOLEST collection (from $1,200/cake). There are several fun, vibrant styles – a cool sneaker, playing cards, a horseshoe, for instance – and each is topped with a stunning original piece of sugar art. The chiffon cakes themselves are crafted with layers of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry along with pistachio mousse, and Ms B’s cakes are some of those rare unicorns that taste as good as they look. Pre-order online three days in advance; available 9–19 June.

N.I.C.E. Yakiniku & Fine Wine: Wagyu tasting menu
We were impressed by our recent dining experience at N.I.C.E. Yakiniku & Fine Wine and think the Japanese eatery would make an ideal spot for a luxurious lunch or dinnertime meal. To celebrate the day, Chef Kennie Poon has created a Father’s Day menu ($1,080/person) on 18–19 June dubbed Hiiro, translating to “the colour of scarlet” in Japanese. Highlights of this Wagyu-focused nine-course tasting menu include the likes of A5 Miyazaki Wagyu rump carpaccio, giant river prawn soup, dry-aged Miyazaki Wagyu and Australian Wagyu beef tongue + A5 Miyazaki Wagyu beef chazuke prepared yakiniku style and roasted pineapple with wasabi sorbet. Two-hour free-flow Japanese sake and French red and white wine ($288/person) can be added to really gild the lily.

OZONE: Peruvian-style ceviche brunch
At this rooftop bar located at the highest hotel in the world, dads can dig into a Sunday brunch ($788/adult; $488/child aged 3–11) on Father’s Day that’s highlighted by a selection of cured seafood specials, including salmon ceviche with aji amarillo and corn, red shrimp ceviche with tomato and cobia ceviche with avocado and red onion, in addition to OZONE’s standard slap-up semi-buffet of globally inspired appetisers. Main choices also run the international gamut, from roasted tom yum cod to the signature Wagyu burger. For dessert, there are made-to-order pancakes, waffles and many more goodies to look forward to. Don’t forget the tipples, with two-hour free-flow packages priced from $398 per person available all day long or, on the menu from 4pm, mixologist Bryan Benitez’s trio whisky cocktail flight ($428) created in honour of the day.

Zoku: Japanese set dinner + cigar & sake pairings
Over at Zoku Restaurant, there are two options for Father’s Day celebrations. From 17–19 June, Chef Edwin Guzman will be presenting his Father’s Day set dinner menu ($888/person). It starts off with amuse-bouches of oyster and ikura and toro tartare to whet the appetite, followed by the restaurant’s signature sashimi, sushi and maki platter and pork belly and octopus kushiyaki. Deep-fried sea bass, Kagoshima Wagyu steak and Australian lobster compete for the main course, while dessert for Dad is Cacao, a concoction of chocolate mousse, salted peanut ice cream, vanilla jelly and caramelised hazelnut.
Before Father’s Day, The Terrace, the lush outdoor space adjacent to Zoku, will host a sensory experience ($788/person) on Thursday the 16th (6:30–9:30pm) involving cigar and sake pairings. Guests will get the chance to sample two premium cigars – Joya de Nicaragua Antaño, lauded as one of the top 50 cigars in the world, and Montecristo Petit Edmundo, a classic Cuban cigar. Both will be expertly paired to complement four sakes in a variety of styles. Wait, there’s more! Five small bites, including pork belly bao, wasabi prawns, maitake temaki, salmon kushiyaki and Wagyu dumplings, will be on hand to fill your dad’s belly and keep him walking straight.
