There is not a Foodie amongst us who does not love snacks, and one of the things we miss most about not travelling is missing out on the wonderful world of international snacks. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) has come good, bringing the World of Snacks to us.
From 14–20 July, head to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to find yourself in the World of Snacks.
The World of Snacks fair

It’s here for a whole week, so there’s no excuse not to book in a couple of hours. Let’s have a sneak preview of what you can find at the fair:
Indonesia
Salted egg – the variations are endless! Try crispy and golden Nutchies cashews in salted egg flavour, described as “mouth-wateringly tasty”, at booth 5B-C31 (Upgrade International Limited), but if salted egg is not your thing, these cashews also come in corn and even truffle varieties.
Japan
The choice of snacks from Japan is truly astounding, but it’s not all individually wrapped rice crackers. Look for premium Japanese yuzu cake from Rachel’s Kitchen at booth 5B-B17, the famous Yobick prebiotic drinks at booth 5B-D05 (JMD International Holdings Limited) or a blend of Uji matcha and soy milk made from premium Japanese soybeans at 5B-B25 (Upgrade International Limited).
Malaysia
The World of Snacks is a Musang King lover’s paradise! Find durian mochi, cheesecake and mooncakes at booth 5B-B01 (Unique Mind Limited), all made in Malaysia. You can find more durian mochi, as well as mint chocolate and passion fruit blueberry flavours, at booth 5B-C11 (Wing To Development Company Limited).
Try the lightly spicy salted egg popcorn from myEureka, made with curry leaves, at booth 5B-C13 (Pineseas International Limited) or – of course – they have a durian version too!
Singapore
If you get thirsty, check out booth 5B-C13 (Pineseas International Limited) for Cool Rhino Cooling Water. Cooling water is deionized water, with added ingredients from Chinese traditional medicine – gypsum fibrosum and calcitum – that aim to reduce the “heatiness” of the body. Interesting...
Spain
Small savoury Spanish snacks... tapas! Visit booth 5B-B21 (Tradition Fine Foods Limited) for their selection of naturally cured Ibérico and serrano hams and tapas platters with Manchego cheese. Another highlight is the Bien Jamon Spanish Food Company at booth 5B-B28. They are offering unique and delicious snackables like cortezas de cerdo – pork crackling made from serrano pigs – and potato sticks (pajitas) cooked with 100% olive oil and sea salt.
Thailand
Lay’s classic 2-in-1 flavoured potato chips are available in shrimp flavour with Thai seafood chilli sauce at booth 5B-B29 (Onwell Asia Pacific Limited).
You might recognise one of Thailand's must-buy souvenirs here too – coconut-cream-flavoured Koh-Kae peanuts. The outer layer of the nut is wrapped in coconut milk, with a unique flavour and crispy texture. You can find them, as well as dried mixed fruit chips (with jackfruit, taro, banana and purple sweet potato) and more, at Golden Long Food Trading Limited at booth 5B-C23.
Taiwan
No snack fair would be complete without some famous Taiwanese street snacks! At the World of Snacks this year, you will find favourite Taiwanese brand HiWalk (海邊走走) at booth 5B-C12 and their famous peanut egg rolls. HiWalk insists on using New Zealand butter with no trans fat, also using Taiwan-grown peanuts and eggs from a famous Taiwanese ranch to make their crispy egg rolls. You will also find Wang Mama pineapple cake and strawberry popcorn here.
Hong Kong
Not to be outdone, Hong Kong presents a nice array of snacking options. Tsui Heung Food Factory at booth 5B-A21 has a selection of peanuts on offer, flavoured with shrimp roe and made fresh in Hong Kong daily.
Absolutely not to be missed is Yan Chim Kee at booth 5B-A18. This local company has been producing coconut masterpieces since 1915. Highlights at the fair are their coconut hard candies, crunchy coconut and coconut ice strips.
Healthy options
Try as we might to eat as many fresh fruits and vegetables as possible, inevitably there comes a time when we need healthy and convenient snacks too. There’s plenty of choice in this category.
Visit Green Common at booth 5B-A04 for a variety of green choices, including baked kale crisps with the sweet-and-sour tang of dill pickle.
The hummus chips at booth 5B-A03 (Jireh International Health Limited) are vegan and gluten free, with no artificial colourings or flavourings – they are great for dipping and sharing.
Find the incredible Peruvian native sachi incha at the Hart Limited booth at 5B-B24. Also known as the Inca peanut, this nutrient-dense seed is extremely high in omega 3 and 6.
If traditional nuts are more your thing, head to booth 5B-A11 (Zunic International Limited) for a range of unsalted nuts from around the world, such as macadamias from Australia.
Don’t forget to look for the various keto-friendly protein bars on offer, such as these from Life Is for Excellence at booth 5B-A08.
And more...
These Cheesepops – made from 100% Dutch cheese and “popped” using 100% wind energy – can be snacked plain or used in salads, soups and even as pizza toppings. Choose between Cheddar, Emmental and Gouda. We want!
If you have ever wanted to try bulletproof coffee but keeping high-quality, fresh ingredients on hand is a bit tricky for you, look for the convenient instant butter organic coffee from Warrior Coffee.
Both the Cheesepops and Warrior Coffee can be found at the Eins (HK) Limited booth at 5B-B13.
Bonus concurrent events
The World of Snacks runs concurrently with two other family-oriented events organised by the HKTDC – the Hong Kong Book Fair and Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo. One ticket is good for visiting all three fairs, so leave space in your bag for all the goodies you’ll be collecting at the trio.
How to get tickets
Adult tickets are $25, children’s tickets cost $10 and there are a number of special offers, including reduced price for early and late entry. Once inside the fair, there are discounts to be had for vaccinated visitors too!
You can purchase tickets by Octopus card at the venue, but if you want to skip the queues, consider one of these options:
