Ever seen a queue to get into a hotel lobby for brunch? At Page148 in Jordan, this is what you will witness at the weekend.
Page Hotels are the “Home of Urban Explorers”, and the boutique hotel’s bustling, laid-back Page Common café is filled with a younger crowd, chatting or working away along with a cup of their famed drip or pourover coffee. The lobby/café isn’t made to cater to massive crowds, but I loved watching all the people checking in and out at the hotel’s compact reception desk whilst enjoying my brunch.
Page Common carries a vision of inspiring people to travel. Now that we are only travelling within our own city, we have the opportunity to be urban explorers within our own backyard.
The motive behind Page Common was to create a space for the lifestyle community. We incorporated lifestyle elements such as coffee, communal tables, magazine racks and travel books, hoping to influence and provide an improved social experience to our guests and customers. – Page Common Journal
The brunch menu is simple, consisting of a range of toasts and croissants. The recommended crabmeat, coriander and avocado toast ($88) was fresh and zesty, being very well seasoned. Crab is mixed in creamy mayo and spread generously on a thick piece of toast.
The signature avocado croissant ($78) uses an entire avocado, sliced, seasoned lightly and topped with sliced fig. It could have used more lime on the side, but I enjoyed how filling this dish is.
The tiramisu ($48) is one of their signature dishes. Made from mascarpone, lady’s fingers and in-house artisanal espresso, it isn’t too intense, but one square is perfect to share. Make sure to complete your brunch with a coffee on the side!
The signature pourover coffees ($65–85) are offered alongside tasting notes such as this one for Fjord Coffee Roasters in Ethiopia:
- Farmer: Duromina
- Variety: heirloom
- Process: washed
- Tasting: rose, vanilla, peach

Verdict
Doubling as a perfect workspace option on Kowloon side, I recommend checking out Page Common in the lobby of Page148. You could get away with spending a few hours working and eating there, and it makes for a great place to catch up with friends (not to mention the food prices are really reasonable!). However, I recommend you hit the café early at the weekend or you’ll be stuck waiting outside to get in around 11am.
